It’s safe to say that we’re all aware of multiple hair evil, but is it the same when it comes to our scalp? Type SCALP in the comments below and we’ll send you a complete guide on understanding scalp concerns! An itchy scalp is by far the most harrowing and embarrassing to have. If this itchiness is accompanied by extreme oil or dryness and you see flakes on your clothes, it’s probably dandruff. Bathing with hot water, not washing your hair enough, and really harsh hair cleansers are common causes of dandruff. Using a shampoo specialised to battle this concern is the first step you need to take.

These shampoos can make your ends dry, so remember to never skip conditioner. Tea Tree and Neem oil work like magic to battle this. Mix it with any carrier oil and a few drops of lemon juice and literally see your flakes vanish after a wash. You can even crush two aspirins and mix it with your shampoo. The salicylic acid present in it loosens the flakes which can then be easily washed away. A common tendency is to mistake product build up with dandruff-. While the former can be seen falling from your scalp, the latter has flakes sticking to your roots. Oil based products that are not water soluble for example are one of the biggest culprits that require frequent and thorough hair washes with lukewarm water. Using multiple hair products more often than required home these flakes which when mixed with your scalp oils lead to a greasy grimy mess. What you can do is mix some baking soda with water and then add a few drops of peppermint oil to this. Run this through your strands in the shower and follow it up with a conditioner to get rid of excess product and dirt.

Acne on your scalp is much less common than your face and back but can be just as troublesome. They look like pimples and zits and most of the time are non inflammatory but can feel itchy and sore from time to time. Scalp acne is a representation of a neglected scalp when you let your natural oils stay in for too long that end up clogging your folicles. When you have dandruff that you don’t treat for a while, they end up accumulating as dead cells which also result in acne breakout. It’s also a common tendency for those who wear headgears like a cap. Where the sweat doesn’t dry out easily further giving germs and bacteria a ground to breathe. Shampoos that have salicylic and glycolic acid can help exfoliate dead cells causing acne and are also anti bacterial in nature. Tomato juice and Apple cider vinegar are really effective in getting rid of scalp acne but if your acne is painful or isn’t going away by itself, it’s best to contact a dermatologist who can recommend topical creams and ointments for relief. Head lice are wingless insects that make your scalp there home and food which is where the severe itching comes in.
